Projects

Bring the woodshop and a teacher to your home with any Built! project.  All projects will consists of a blueprint, the necessary wood to assemble the project, and an instructional video that will cover the following:  how to assemble the project, how to safely use the necessary tool(s) needed, an explanation of various terms pulled from the individual project that are commonly associated with carpentry/ woodworking, and more.  Depending on the project fasteners may or may not be provided.  Also, safety glasses are not provided, but are suggested as safety will be covered in every Built! video.  Remember, safety first.

Table-top Tape Art:

Suggested Age:  10 and up

Learn how to properly use paint and painters tape to create a small pop of color that is sure to brighten up any small nook in your house.  The addition of a 1/4" dowel tapped in place in the back will allow it to freely stand anywhere you choose.  You will also get a tutorial on how to properly use a claw hammer to nail in the framing strips.  Nails are included.

Tools needed/ not included:

  • Claw Hammer (preferably the small Anvil Hammer found at Home Depot)

  • .94 ScotchBlue Painter's Tape

  • Paint

Small Desktop Cork Board:

Suggested Age:  10 and up

Get familiar with using a claw hammer.  With this project you'll also learn how to read a tape measure, something every carpenter has to know, to accurately place your nails.  But first... let's personalize it by adding some color.  Nails are included.

A Small Shelf

Suggested Age:  12 and up

You'll be hammering slightly bigger nails with this project.  In addition, you will learn about the different squares carpenters and woodworkers alike use for their projects.  Ever used wood glue?  No?  Now's your chance.  Lastly, you'll get a tutorial on how to properly hang a painting.  Do mom and dad have a painting that seems too low?  Too high?  Now you can fix it.  Nails and a picture hanger are included.
